Bonsai Metasequoia (S Form)

Metasequoia, also known as Chinese red sequoia, is a highly valued species for creating bonsai, due to its fine leaves and relatively fast growth.
Care
Light and location
The Metasequoia bonsai prefers a bright position, with direct sunlight for at least a few hours a day. It is important to protect it from strong winds and late spring frosts, which can damage its new growth.
Watering
Watering should be regular and adjusted according to the season and environmental conditions. The soil should not dry out completely, but neither should it be saturated with water. Ensuring good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Fertilization
Fertilization is best done during periods of active growth, spring and summer, using a balanced bonsai fertilizer. During the dormant period, fertilization should be reduced or even stopped.
Cutting and shaping
Pruning is done to control growth and shape the tree. This is done by cutting new shoots back to two or three leaves, depending on the desired shape. Shaping by wire can also be applied, but be careful not to damage the bark or branches.
Transplantation
Transplanting is done every two to three years, in the spring, before the growing season begins. It is an opportunity to cut back roots that have grown too much and replace the soil to provide a fresh, nutritious environment.
By following these basic practices, the Metasequoia bonsai can become a spectacular centerpiece in any bonsai lover's collection, providing beauty and satisfaction year-round.
